2024 REFERENCE POLL SIRES

2024 Reference Poll Sires

Name: KOANUI GALLWAY Q313 (PP)

Its really exciting to bring in a new sire to the breeding program and then it is very satisfying when it works. Gallway was purchased out of the Koanui production sale in 2021 and used over a diverse array of females, to gauge his 'type'. We can certainly see that now, he produces sons with plenty of growth and absolutely breed leading carcase data. Gallway is exclusive to Injemira, so you wont see this outcross in any other herd in Australia.

Name: CHURCHILL BROADWAY 858F (IMP USA) (PP)

Broadway is the 'boom' sire introduced to Australia from the US. He was used over heifers and he delivered with really low birth weight calves and when they hit the ground they grow. What I really like about this sire is the shape and carcase that we strive for at Injemira. A great selection of sons is sprinkled throughout the catalogue.

Name: MATARIKI KING PIN (IMP NZL)(PP)

King Pin has done a wonderful job and in 2022 he amazed me with the demand for his sons, with 25 sons averaging in excess of $25,000. Our industry needs outcross genetics and King Pin is a complete outcross to the Australian industry. The sons presented in 2024 are a great line of even bulls with plenty of bone, length and style. The data he brings to the table is strong with moderate birth weights, high growth and terrific carcase credentials with EMA in the top 5% and marbling in the top 10% of the breed. We really look forward to the impact King Pin will have on our herd with the daughters looking great, with many sons from King Pin daughters catalogued in 2024. Some really exciting sons suitable for stud duty are catalogued this year.

Name: BOWEN PATRIARCH P017 (AI) (ET) (PP)

Patriarch has done a wonderful job over heifers and now cows. Purchased in 2020 as the second top priced bull at the Bowen production sale he impressed me for the balance of calving ease, growth and muscle content from a predictable pedigree. He has not disappointed, he really puts a stamp on his progeny with very little tail in his offspring as a group. In 2023 he produced the top selling bull selling to the Elsom family for $75,000. His son this year that leads off the 'Spring' group in Lot 47 is an absolute standout of the sale group.

Name: DAYS Q195 (AI) (P)

The Heidelberg sons are everything we hoped for. He was purchased for his extreme carcase shape and he certainly breeds that on. That carcase is certainly backed up by his strong carcase EBVs with both EMA and Marbling in the top 1% of the breed. Some really exciting sons are catalogued, with the highlight being Lot 49.

Name: INJEMIRA ROBERT REDFORD Q287 (PP)

Robert Redford Q287 needs no introduction to the beef industry. In 2021 he thrilled us at Injemira when he was sold in our production sale for an Australian Record price of $160,000. Since that time through ABS Global semen has been exported to every continent in the world, really putting Australian Herefords on the map. Reports of calves being born in the US, NZ, UK, South America and the EU have been fantastic with breeders just raving about how the calves are born early, small and then grow. Exactly what we have experienced. I challenge any bull of any breed to have the data profile of Robert Redford, he ranks in the top 1% of the breed for Calving Ease, Birth Weight, 200 Day Growth, Carcase Weight, EMA and Marbling. NB: Every single son born by at Injemira sired by Robert Redford Q287 has made the bull sale catalogue and all of these came from 2 y/o heifers. In 2023 his entire draft of sons averaged in excess of $22,000. This is your last chance to get a Redford son at Injemira.

Name: INJEMIRA KICKSTART P093 (AI) (PP)

Kickstart P093 is a real game changing sire on the carcase shape and expression front whilst still being a low birth easy calving sire. His sons in 2022 topped our bull sale averages with the entire drop averaging in excess of $35,000 including the top two priced bulls at $70,000 and $50,000. In 2023 he did it again producing the second highest priced bull at $70,000. His sons in 2024 are equally as good.

Name: IVY BANK MISCHIEF M101 (ET)(P)

Purchased at Dubbo National this absolute meat machine of a sire has delivered perfectly to our program. His sons are full of red meat with fantastic skin and hair combined with very sound structure. His data is very solid on the carcase side whilst maintaining low birth weight. A stud sire that ranks in the top percentiles of the breed for EMA and marbling always has a home at Injemira. Some very good sons are present in this catalogue as an entire group. This is the last year to get a Mischief son.
