HEREFORD PRODUCER REPRESENTS GRASSFED SECTOR IN ASIA

Hereford Producer Represents Grassfed Sector in Asia
Southern NSW Hereford breeder Marc Greening has toured Asia to discuss market access opportunities for Australian grassfed beef with Federal Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Barnaby Joyce.

Mr Greening, an independent director of Cattle Council of Australia, attended the five day North Asia Tour in China, Korea and Japan this week.

He represented the beef industry alongside delegates from the horticultural, dairy, grains and sugar industries.

The agricultural tour builds on relationships formed by recent free trade agreements and strengthens the agricultural ties at government and industry levels.

Mr Greening operates Injemira Beef Genetics, at Book Book, supplying more than 2,500 grassfed whiteface cattle to markets including EU and PCAS.

He said demand was expected to rise in international markets for grassfed beef by 6-7 per cent.

“‘I am excited to be representing Cattle Council and Australian grassfed beef producers within these markets, an opportunity that many producers would not receive,’’ Mr Greening said.

“These markets provide only opportunity for Australian grassfed producers - it is important for me as a producer to learn how our market can meet their growing demands.

“I look forward to building a network base between countries and gaining a greater understanding of the issues that arise within the Australian beef industry.’’
